Title: Freedom Flicks: "Rabbit-Proof Fence"
Contact: Elizabeth Rhymer, 603-539-5176
Location: Freedom Public Library
Description:

A terrible chapter in Australian history required half-caste aboriginal children to be taken from their homes by the government and relocated for "their own good" to be taught in the white man's ways. This story takes place in 1931 and tells the tale of two sisters and their cousin, taken from their mother to be trained as domestic servants. They escape from their relocation camp and, followed by the authorities, find their way home, with determination and tenacity, by searching for the rabbit-proof fence that divides the continent. This drama has a wonderful cast including Kenneth Branagh, as A.O. Neville, the supervisor who pursues them.

Admission and fresh-popped popcorn are free!
